West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit

The Draft SHLAA (Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment) was published by the Joint Planning Unit (a partnership of Daventry District Council; Northampton Borough Council; South Northamptonshire Council; and Northamptonshire County Council) to seek additional information or evidence about the potential sites identified.

The SHLAA is NOT a plan for development, but simply a part of the technical evidence base required to inform the plan making process. The facility to comment on the DRAFT SHLAA  is now closed.  However, the data is still available for viewing. Please click here to access the data.

Processing of the evidence which has been submitted will now commence.  In view of the large amount of evidence which has been submitted, it is expected that the FINAL report will not be available until 30th June at the earliest.

Please note that on 13/01/2010 we have added some new maps to make identification of potential sites easier. These can be viewed (and downloaded) on the next page (after clicking on the link in the paragraph above).  Please note that these will open in a new window, and users can zoom in to see close detail.

WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE is a new name. It relates to the area that is covered by Northampton Borough and Daventry District and South Northamptonshire Councils. It is part of the Milton Keynes and South Midlands growth area promoted by the Government through its Sustainable Communities Plan. Included within West Northamptonshire are the main towns of Northampton, Daventry, Brackley and Towcester along with many villages and areas of picturesque countryside.
