Regulation 25 Consultation - Winter 2008
Following the Issues and Options stage in Autumn 2007 the Government made changes to the regulations that govern the production of Planning Policy documents. These included an amendment to Regulation 25 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004, and required the West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit to carry out some additional consultation on the scope of the Joint Core Strategy (known as Regulation 25 consultation).

Regulation 25 affects consultation carried out throughout plan making. The key change is that there is no longer a requirement for a Preferred Options stage of consultation. Instead the Government has placed emphasis on the involvement of residents and businesses in the preparation of Development Plans as a continual process.

In order to comply with the new Regulation 25 we asked:

Are there any other matters (i.e. subjects, topics or themes), which the Joint Core Strategy for West Northamptonshire should contain?

The consultation ran from Thursday 8 January until Thursday 5 March 2009. The responses we received will be published – they are now being used to inform the production of the Emergent Strategy which will be published in July 2009.
